As of 2016 there were 5.32 million head of sheep in the United States. Utah alone has approximately 300,000 sheep and produces over 2 million pounds of wool a year. In Utah, there are over 600 sheep ranching families and as an association we meet biannually to partake in professional development and strengthen our network.
On November 9-11, our 112th Winter Convention will be held in Sun Valley, ID in collaboration with the Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada Wool Growers Associations. We truly do believe in “better days through better ways” and look forward to learning from industry and community leaders who can help improve our best practices. This year’s convention agenda includes sessions on pathogens, poisonous plants, niche marketing, a chef’s panel, a lambing panel, wool grading, and more.
Events this large are expensive to put on (and well worth the cost) so we are always looking for industry partners. Explore the links below to see how you can help us have another outstanding convention.
