“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” - let’s celebrate with our wonderful December Women of Wool feature

Although Camille Osguthorpe wasn’t raised as a sheep farmer, she was however, born on a dairy farm. She also spent many summers up Spanish Fork Canyon playing and working on her family’s ranch as a young girl. Farming is definitely in her heritage. Growing up with 9 siblings Camille was never one to shy away from jumping in to get things done. This can do attitude would later prove to be a huge advantage when she met the love of her life Mike Osguthorpe and found out their first date would be loading sheep. She loved every minute of it. Mike and Camille we’re married in 2003 in the Salt Lake Temple and began their adventure together as full time sheep ranchers. Now, 16 years and 4 children later, she enjoys teaching them to work hard as a family. You can see it’s apparent to her, farming really is about the family lifestyle. In Camille’s words: “There have been many long miles walked searching for lost sheep. Anxious hours we had to push our herd to safety, away from wildfires. Times of helping to pull lambs from struggling ewes, caring for and feeding herders, hauling camps and loading semis and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love what I do. I love the ranching life.” It’s Camille’s approach, to these experiences and others, that sets her apart as a woman in leadership. She currently sits on the MPAS board. She has been a part of a special H2A committee and has served in the UWGA auxiliary presidency. She also has a deep love for her community and in 2018 started the Oakley diaper pantry, a non profit organization that delivers diapers to those in need. She is always willing to serve and help represent the agricultural industry and those in her local community. Thanks Camille for the bright light you bring to the sheep industry!
